Many people in other parts of the world walk great distances for basic needs such as drinking water and food ingredients.
CROP WALKS, community-based fundraising events, raise money for local hunger-fighting agencies as well as the international relief and development efforts of Church World Service. 25% of revenues raised are kept for local needs. For more information, please visit the Church World Service website.
2007 Dare CROP Walk A Huge Success!
October 2007 - For the first time in over 10 years a CROP Walk was held in Dare County.
Our goal was to register 300 walkers and raise $10,000.00. We had 270 walkers from 18 churches and organizations who raised over $22,000.00!
The local share of the funds were distributed to Beach Food Pantry, Mount Olivet's Food Pantry, Food for Thought and Inter Faith Community Outreach.
Through Church World Service $1050.00 can support community-based health, hygiene and sanitation training for an entire community. Fifteen communities could be served - as well as our own - by the 2007 Dare CROP Walk!
CROP Community Response to Overcome Proverty! This years recipients of the local funds generated will be shared among four social service outreach groups:
Food For Thought
Beach Food Pantry
Our hope for 2008 is 400 walkers and raise over $20,000.00! Please help us reach that goal.
We Walk Because They Walk!
